Daniel Eck is 28. He started in high school, learned auto and welding at trade school, worked Pep Boys nights, then shop after shop. No certs on the wall. The cars that left running are the record.

The Grand Strand
Home base is the Grand Strand — Myrtle Beach and the towns along this stretch of South Carolina. Farther out is fine if the trip is priced first.

How he works
Daniel loves mechanical work. Older is better. He is a down-to-earth wrench turner, not a boutique. Electrical mazes are not his headline — he will say so instead of guessing.

He will look at almost anything and tell you up front if he can finish it mobile or if it belongs on a rack. Look first. Parts second.

A Mazda truck
A recent Mazda truck had been called a blown head gasket and already had two new coils. It was still missing. Daniel found a bad master cylinder, a mechanical headlight switch, and coils that were never hooked back up. No gasket job. The miss was unfinished work.
